Train-Car Collisions in New JerseyTwo Injured After Train Hits Car at Mt Laurel Rd & Marne Hwy

Train-car collisions are among the most dangerous types of transportation accidents due to the massive size and force of freight trains. In New Jersey, these crashes often occur at railroad crossings, where vehicles and trains intersect.

Some common contributing factors include:

  • Signal or Gate Malfunctions: If warning lights or crossing gates fail, drivers may unknowingly cross tracks at the wrong time.
  • Driver Error: Misjudging the train’s speed or attempting to beat it across the tracks can have devastating consequences.
  • Visibility Issues: Poor lighting, obstructed views, or inadequate signage can make it difficult for drivers to detect an oncoming train.
  • Train or Operator Negligence: Excessive speed, failure to sound a horn, or inadequate track maintenance may also play a role.

When collisions occur, victims are often left with severe injuries, including head trauma, broken bones, and internal damage. Beyond physical harm, these accidents may also bring significant emotional and financial stress for victims and their families.
