Bridgewater, NJ – Injuries After Three-Vehicle Crash on Rte 202 S

Bridgewater, NJ (November 19, 2025) – On Monday evening, November 18, emergency crews responded to a three-vehicle collision with injuries that left one car engulfed in flames and caused a shutdown of Route 202 South in Bridgewater.

According to the Bridgewater Police Department, officers arrived at approximately 6:00 p.m. near Towne Center Road after receiving reports of a multi-vehicle crash. When police reached the scene, they found two disabled vehicles on the roadway, and one of them was fully on fire.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Alfonso Garciamiron, 58, of Flemington, had been traveling southbound in a 2010 Chevrolet HHR when he struck the rear of a 2025 Toyota RAV4 driven by Daniel Carmody, 70, of Branchburg. The force of the collision pushed the Toyota into a third vehicle, which sustained minor damage. Both Garciamiron and Carmody suffered injuries and received medical attention. Garciamiron’s Chevrolet later became completely engulfed in flames as a result of the impact.

Firefighters from the Country Hills Volunteer Fire Company and Bradley Gardens Volunteer Fire Company responded quickly and extinguished the blaze. Route 202 South was temporarily closed while crews worked to remove debris and ensure the roadway was safe for travel. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Bridgewater Police Department at 908-722-4111.

We send our best wishes to those involved in the accident as they recover.

Multi-Vehicle Crashes in New Jersey

Highways across New Jersey frequentlyInjuries After Three-Vehicle Crash on Rte 202 S experience multi-vehicle collisions due to heavy traffic, high speeds, and the constantly changing conditions that drivers must react to daily. Commuters often travel these routes during peak hours, which increases the likelihood of congestion and sudden slowdowns. In these environments, even a minor lapse in attention, such as looking down at a phone, adjusting the radio, or being momentarily distracted by sun glare, can initiate a chain reaction. A single sudden stop or misjudged distance between vehicles may quickly escalate into a multi-car crash involving several drivers, passengers, and vehicles of various sizes.

These types of collisions tend to produce complicated injury patterns because the force of impact often comes from multiple directions. Injuries may include whiplash, muscle strains, and soft-tissue damage, but more severe harm, such as head injuries, concussions, fractures, and internal trauma, is also common. When fires occur, as they did in the Bridgewater incident, the risks become even greater. Burning vehicles create a hazardous environment filled with smoke, heat, and potential explosions, placing everyone involved in immediate danger. Fire crews must act quickly to contain the flames, prevent further damage, and protect those who may still be trapped or disoriented in the wreckage.

Multi-vehicle crashes also present unique challenges from an investigative standpoint. Unlike a two-car collision, where fault may be clearer, these incidents require a careful and methodical analysis of the sequence of impacts. Investigators must determine how the first collision occurred, whether drivers were maintaining safe following distances, and whether road conditions such as construction zones, wet pavement, or limited visibility played a role. Human factors, including fatigue, distraction, or impaired driving, must also be evaluated. In some cases, mechanical failures such as brake issues or tire blowouts are contributing elements that need to be documented.

Because several drivers and vehicles are typically involved, the insurance claims process can become particularly complicated. Different insurers may dispute the extent of each party’s responsibility, leading to delays and disagreements over compensation. Victims often face mounting medical expenses for emergency treatment, hospital stays, diagnostic tests, and follow-up care. They may also lose income if injuries force them to take time off work or limit their ability to perform job duties. Meanwhile, the cost of repairing or replacing damaged vehicles adds another layer of financial strain.

For many families, the aftermath of a multi-vehicle collision can feel overwhelming. Legal guidance provides clarity during this difficult period and helps ensure that victims are not left to handle the financial and emotional burden on their own.
