Fanwood, NJ – Three Pedestrians Hurt After Car Hits Them at Forest Rd Park

Fanwood, NJ (November 5, 2025) – On Tuesday, November 4, around 10:00 a.m., emergency responders were dispatched to Forest Road Park in Fanwood following reports of a serious crash involving a vehicle that struck both a utility pole and multiple pedestrians.

According to police, the driver of a white Mercedes reportedly stepped on the gas, lost control of the vehicle, and first collided with a utility pole before hitting several people nearby. One eyewitness stated that a man was thrown into the air due to the impact. The car came to a stop on a basketball court, and the pole was left shattered and scattered across the ground.

Emergency medical personnel arrived quickly and transported three individuals to a nearby hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not yet been released.

At the time of the crash, everyone involved was present to vote in Tuesday’s election, as one of the park’s buildings was being used as a polling site. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The Fanwood Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the possibility of mechanical failure or driver error.

We extend our hopes for a full and swift recovery to all those injured in this unfortunate accident.

Common Safety Risks in New Jersey Public Areas

Crashes like the one at ForestThree Injured After Being Struck by Car at Forest Rd Park Road Park in Fanwood highlight the need for heightened safety awareness in shared community spaces where vehicles and pedestrians interact. While highways often witness high-speed collisions, accidents in parks and residential areas can also result in severe injuries due to the limited reaction time and proximity to foot traffic.

  • Driver awareness: Maintaining full attention behind the wheel and avoiding distractions such as mobile devices can prevent sudden loss of control.
  • Speed management: Even at low speeds, vehicles can cause serious harm in areas where pedestrians are present. Drivers should always reduce speed in public or residential zones.
  • Vehicle maintenance: Routine inspections of acceleration systems, brakes, and tires can reduce the risk of mechanical malfunctions that may lead to crashes.
  • Pedestrian vigilance: Individuals walking in or near roadways and parking areas should remain alert and assume vehicles may not always stop as expected.
  • Community design: Implementing proper signage, barriers, and speed controls in parks and pedestrian-heavy zones can enhance safety for everyone.

By prioritizing these safety measures, many community-area collisions can be prevented. Traffic and pedestrian accidents can result in painful injuries, medical expenses, and emotional distress for victims and their families.
