Trenton, NJ (November 2, 2025) – A pedestrian suffered critical injuries on Saturday, November 1, after a vehicle struck them and fled the scene in Trenton.

The crash happened around 6:44 p.m. on Calhoun Street. Witnesses said the pedestrian was crossing the street when a speeding vehicle hit them and continued driving without stopping. The impact threw the victim onto the roadway, leaving them bleeding and motionless.

Paramedics arrived quickly and provided urgent medical care before transporting the victim to a nearby hospital. Police described the injuries as severe and life-threatening. Officers blocked off part of Calhoun Street while they gathered evidence and reviewed nearby surveillance footage to identify the driver involved.

Authorities believe the suspect’s vehicle may have front-end damage and are asking anyone with information to contact Trenton Police. Investigators continue to review evidence and work to locate the driver who left the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

Our hearts are with the victim and their family during this difficult time. We wish them a full and swift recovery.

Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accidents in New Jersey

Pedestrian Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run on Calhoun StPedestrian hit-and-run accidents are among the most tragic types of roadway crashes in New Jersey. These collisions often cause devastating injuries and leave victims without immediate help while every second counts. When a driver flees instead of stopping to assist, the outcome can be catastrophic for the person left behind.

Across the state, pedestrian crashes continue to rise each year. Many occur in densely populated areas such as Trenton, where heavy traffic, poor lighting, and distracted driving create dangerous conditions. Drivers who speed or fail to yield at intersections are especially likely to cause serious harm to people walking nearby.

Victims of these crashes often suffer severe trauma such as brain injuries, broken bones, and internal bleeding. In addition to physical pain, many face emotional distress, expensive medical bills, and lost income while they recover. Even when the driver cannot be found, New Jersey law still allows victims to seek financial recovery through uninsured motorist coverage and other legal options.

A knowledgeable personal injury lawyer in Trenton can help victims and families recover compensation for:

  • Medical care and rehabilitation
  • Lost income and reduced earning potential
  • Pain, suffering, and emotional distress
  • Long-term support or disability-related expenses
