Mt. Laurel, NJ (October 22, 2025) – On Tuesday morning, October 21, a woman was killed and another driver was seriously injured following a multi-vehicle crash on Route 38 near Marter Avenue in Mt. Laurel.

The collision occurred around 8:00 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Route 38. Police identified the victim as 58-year-old Lisa Agre-Brown of Mt. Laurel, who was driving a blue Honda at the time of the crash.

Witness Makiko Cizik, who was driving nearby to work, said she was stopped at a red light moments before the collision and witnessed the incident unfold. “The truck cut in front of the blue car. It didn’t seem intentional, but he cut them off,” Cizik explained. “Once the light turned green and we all were coming through the light, the blue car came into the third lane and cut off the truck that had initially cut him off. The car flipped over onto the other side of the highway and was hit by oncoming traffic.”

Aerial footage from Chopper 6 showed the blue car heavily damaged in the eastbound lanes, as well as a white truck with extensive front-end damage. The male truck driver was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries but is expected to survive. The Mt. Laurel Police Department continues to investigate the cause of the crash.

Our sincere condolences go out to the family of the deceased during this difficult time, and we hope that those injured make a full and speedy recovery.

Multi-Vehicle Collisions on New Jersey Roads

Multi-vehicle crashes are amongWoman Killed, One Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Rte 38 Near Marter Ave the most dangerous types of accidents on New Jersey’s highways and local routes, often resulting in severe injuries or fatalities. Roads like Route 38, Route 73, and the New Jersey Turnpike handle large volumes of commuter and commercial traffic daily, which increases the likelihood of high-impact collisions.

Common causes of multi-vehicle accidents in New Jersey include:

  • Aggressive or reckless driving: Sudden lane changes or tailgating can trigger chain-reaction crashes.
  • Distracted driving: Texting or using a phone while driving often prevents timely reactions to changing traffic conditions.
  • Speeding or running red lights: Increases the severity of impacts at intersections or merges.
  • Poor visibility or road conditions: Wet pavement, fog, or glare can reduce reaction time and lead to pileups.
  • Failure to yield or improper passing: Common factors in side-impact and crossover collisions.

The consequences of such accidents can be devastating, often resulting in fatalities, spinal injuries, head trauma, fractures, or internal bleeding. Even survivors may face long-term physical and emotional recovery, alongside significant financial burdens from medical bills, lost wages, and vehicle damage.

New Jersey law requires all drivers involved in serious crashes to remain at the scene, contact emergency services, and report the incident to police. Authorities may temporarily close affected lanes to investigate, assist victims, and clear debris.

Because multi-vehicle crashes can involve multiple drivers and complex fault determinations, victims often seek help from an experienced New Jersey wrongful death accident lawyer to protect their rights and navigate insurance claims. Legal guidance can make a major difference in securing compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and other related losses.
